Introduction: Rats carrying a germline loss-of-function mutation in p27 (MENX syndrome) develop bilateral pheochromcoytoma (PCC) with complete penetrance. Gene expression profiling of rat PCCs identified genes highly expressed in tumors vs normal adrenal medulla.
